Load and maximum demand calculation

 • Three types of load for 1 sqft


*Lighting load - 2.5 w

* Power load - 1.5w / 4 w

* Back up - 0.5 / 4.5 w


- Cellar with 1st floor, 2nd floor and 3rd floor.


1st floor

 Shop 1 - 945 sqft

 Shop 2 - 2500 sqft

 Shop 3 - 1500 sqft

 Shop 4 - 995 sqft

 Shop 5 - 2400 sqft

 Common load - 3000 sqft


2nd floor :

 Shop 1 - 700 sqft

 Shop 2 - 1200 sqft

 Shop 3 - 1600 sqft

 Shop 4 - 1900 sqft

 Stall (10) - 10 kw

Common load (stall) - 2000 sqft

Common load - 2000 sqft


3rd floor :

 Projector - 50 kw

 AC          - 60 kw

 Sound system - 25 kw

 Other     - 10 kw

Total.      = 145 kw × 0.8 = 116 kw

Common load :

Left each kw - 12.5 kw/ qty - 4 no. / D.F= 1

Escalator each kw - 25kw /qty - 2no. / D.F= 1

Water pump each kw - 15kw/qty - 1 no./ D.F = 0.8

Fire fighting pump - 100 kw /qty - 1no./ D.F=0.1

Cellar = 8000 sqft -0.5 w /qty - 4


     = 12.5 × 4 = 50,
     = 25 × 2 = 50,
     = 15 × 0.8 = 12,
     = 100 × 0.1 =10,
     = 0.5 × 4 = 2.

T.C.L = 50+50+12+10+2 = 124 kw


Therefore, T.C.L = 1+2+3 floor+ common load
       = 164.35+ 238.15+ 387.48+ 124
       = 914 kw

Loading factor : 914 ÷ 0.7 = 1305.71

KVA = KW / P.F. = 1305/0.8 = 1631.20 KVA

Therefore, 1750 kVA transformer is recommended.
