D.F. = 0.6, 0.7, 0.8, 0.9
D.F = P.D÷T.C.L
therefore, P.D = D.f × T.C.L
• we will get Peak Demand (P.D) in KW
• then, KVA = KW÷ P.F. (P.F = 0.8)
• After that, KVA/0.7 (0.7= Loading factor)
Therefore, the result will be our transformer value or selection.
Note : In future expansion multiply by 1.25
Example :
Building. Each KW. Qty flat
2BHK. 4 KW. 12 No.
3BHK. 6KW. 12 No.
Com. Load. 20 KW. --
• Calculate total KW
4KW × 12 = 48 KW
6KW × 12 = 72 KW
20KW × 1 = 20 KW
Therefore, T.C.L = 140 KW
• D.F. = 0.6 (or) 60% we take
P.D = D.F × T.C.L
= 0.6 × 140 = 84 KW
• KVA = KW÷ P.F = 84 ÷ 0.8 = 105 kVA
• Loading factor = 105÷0.7 = 150 KVA
• Therefore, 150 rating comes to load
So, 160 KVA rating transformer is recommended for building.
