MCC Panel ( Motor Control Center)

 MCC  Panel :

   It's consist of feeders for motor. Feeders are designed according to the motor rating. In most of the MCC, auto/manual provision will be there manual provision motor can be operated manually. In acts provision external signal is required to start the motor. The signal is given by the control panel. Inductor for the motor operation also will be present in control panel.

          In basis of control components to learn how various control products are used to control the operation of motor.

              The most basic type of AC motor control, For example, Invertor turning the motor ON and OFF. This is often accomplished using a motor starter made up of a contactor and an overload relay.

            The contactor contact are closed to start the motor and open to stop the motor. This is accomplished electromechanically using start and stop push button (or) other motor device curried to control the contactor.

         The overload relay protect the motor by disconnecting power to the motor when an overload condition exist.  Although the overload. It's doesn't provide short circuit protection for the using supply power to the motor for the reason, circuit breaker (or) Fuses are also used.


Motor control center are supply physical group of combination starters is one assembly.

                  A combination starter is a single enclosure contains the motor starter, fuses (or) circuit breaker and a device for disconnecting power.

                    Other devices associated with the motor such as push button and indicator light may also be included.


Components use in control panel :


Cable

Cables are used for the interconnection.

Two types of cables are used power cable and control cable.

1) Power cable : It's is used to connect motor into panel component and Pnael to main supply.

2) Control cable : It's Control cable is used to connect the control circuit.


Bus Bar

Incoming supply is connected to bus bar and distribution from bus bar. It is normally made by alluminium.


Circuit Breaker

MCB :- It's is used before the feeder . This should be selected according to the capacity of the feeder.

MCCB :- In most of the cases, MCCB used as incoming for higher capacity feeder for better protection.

ELCB (or) RCCB :- The device used for the protection against the earth leakage current and residual current. It should be fixed before the incomer.


INCOMER :

                  The basic supply will connected to this incomer, it also called as SFU (Switch Fuse Unit). It contains one handle with fuse unit, Once it's is turned ON the supply will pass to the next stage through fuse. If any major fault occurs in side panel board it will trip and isolate supply.


Selector switch :

                   It's is used for ON/OFF purpose and for selecting the main de of operations like auto/Manual.


Starter

         It's used for starting the motor safety. Mainly two types of starter : 

* DOL starter

* Star Delta

DOL starter is enough for the motor with power less than 10HP


Overload relay :

        It's is used for protection of motor from over load. It's senses the load current and trip if it is exceeds the limit. Current limit has to be set manually. It should be 80% of the full load current.


Timer

Operation of timer is similar to relay but a delay is there for actuation. We can set the time delay manually according to our requirements. It is very much essential for star to delta conversion.


Contactors :

    It's is an essential component in the control panel. It actuate when the signal from the controller comes. It is similar to relay. It is costlier then relay . It's is used for a higher load.
